The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on April 27:
Costel Alin Coclea, 23, of 25 Jameson Street, Wolverhampton, was committed to prison for eight weeks for stealing alcohol worth £477.28 from Booths in Ripon. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115. A previous suspended sentence of 10 weeks, imposed for stealing alcohol and chewing gum worth £1,000 from a Co-op in Willingham, Cambridgeshire, was activated, resulting in a total custodial sentence of 18 weeks.
Marian Panait, 30, of 250 Pretoria Road, Birmingham, was committed to prison for 12 weeks for stealing alcohol worth £301 from Booths in Ripon. A consecutive 12-week sentence was added for a second count of stealing alcohol, worth £477.28, from the same shop five days later. For committing a further offence while subject to a community order for a previous conviction of theft of alcohol worth £345.70 from Waitrose in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, magistrates imposed a further 12-week sentence to run concurrently with the other two.
The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on April 26:
Trevor Stanley Hibbert, 61, of 1 Far Highfield Close, Bradford, was fined £125 for breaching a restraining order by going within 100 metres of a property in Knaresborough. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
Emma Claire Plant, 28, of Flat 16, Park House Court, Park House Green, Harrogate, was given a six-month conditional discharge for stealing a bottle of ketchup and a bottle of Stella from Tesco Express in Harrogate. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.
Ben Christopher Gary Sleight, 23, of 13 Century Walk, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for damaging a Vauxhall Astra in Oxford Street. He was ordered to pay compensation of £706.26. For damaging a Toyota Yaris in the same street on the same day, he was ordered to pay compensation of £32.33.
The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on April 22:
Chris Barraclough, 42, of 16 Newman Drive, Wincobank, Sheffield, was fined £440 for driving a heavy commercial vehicle which breached a weight restriction on the B6165 at Knaresborough. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £44 and costs of £142.75.
Rzgar Hamasaeed Hamasaleh, 46, of 91 Chestnut Drive, Darlington, was fined £150 for using false information to sell cigarettes. He told customers he was selling Mayfair cigarettes with tar levels of 10mg, carbon monoxide of 10mg and nicotine of 0.9mg, when in fact the levels were 14.2mg, 14.1mg and 1.19mg respectively. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £444.83. Magistrates ordered that the cigarettes be forfeited and destroyed. For possession of cigarettes which had the Mayfair logo but which were not manufactured by that company, he was fined a further £150. No separate penalty was imposed for two counts of failing to meet the packaging requirements for trading tobacco products.

Darren Berry, 38, of 5 Ainsty Road, Harrogate, £768.99 or, in default, 11 days further suspended. Kevin Bushell, of 4 Birch Grove, Harrogate, £406.53 or 14 days suspended. Angela Chana, of Maple House, 6 St Mary’s Court, North Stainley, £2,713.86 or 45 days suspended. Jean-Roje Clark, 43, of 6 Lupton Springs, Glasshouses, £1,933.85 or 45 days suspended. Deborah Crowl, of 68 Bramham Drive, Harrogate, £1,638.44 or 37 days suspended. Michael Durham, 56, of Flat 1, 17 Leeds Road, Harrogate, £2,765.76 or 90 days suspended. Sarah Graham, 38, of 15 St John’s Grove, Kirk Hammerton, £1,758.21 or 35 days suspended. Joanna Lawson, 46, of 2 Chapel Row, Copt Hewick, Ripon, £1,953.83 or 33 days suspended.
The following were among those dealt with for using the railway without a valid ticket:
Kelly Clarke, 32, of 16 St Andrew’s Place, Harrogate, was fined £220 for travelling on a train in Harrogate without a valid ticket. She was ordered to pay compensation of £1.80, a victim surcharge of £22 and costs of £150. Sean Darren Dalton, 41, of 21 Stoneleigh Lane, Leeds, fined £440, compensation of £9.50, victim surcharge £44, costs £150. Jamie Hardcastle, 25, of Flat 2, Strawberry Dale Court, Franklin Road, Harrogate, £440, £6.50, £44, £150. Mickael Montenero, 26, of 10 Franklin Mount, Harrogate, £220, £1.80, £22, £150.
David Graham, 20, of Flat 6, Rachel Court, 1-3 Dragon Road, Harrogate, was fined £330 for using threatening, abusive, obscene or offensive language while on the railway at Hornbeam Park. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £33 and costs of £150. No separate penalty was imposed for travelling without a valid ticket, but he was ordered to pay compensation of £1.80.
