A car ploughed down an embankment after a driver drove the wrong way through roadworks at Flaxby.

At around 8.20pm on Saturday March 29 a blue Toyota Avensis crashed into a red Vauxhall Corsa after the driver swerved through traffic cones to avoid an oncoming vehicle going the wrong way.

The driver and passengers in the Corsa were taken to hospital after the crash and suffered slight injuries.

The occupants of the Toyota were treated at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.

North Yorkshire Police would like to trace the driver of the vehicle which the Toyota had to avoid and are also appealing to any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Steve Wright.
