95-year-old died after putting out rubbish in freezing weather

A 95-year-old man has died after collapsing while putting out the rubbish in freezing weather.

Police officers were called to an address in the Hookstone Drive area of Harrogate just after 6am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, after the man was found on a driveway in a collapsed state.

An ambulance crew attended and took the man to Harrogate District Hospital where attempts were made to revive him. Sadly he died, and the man’s family has been informed.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It appears the man had collapsed the previous evening while putting the rubbish out. The weather conditions overnight were freezing.”

There were no suspicious circumstances, police enquiries confirm, and a report has been submitted to the coroner.
