61-year-old man attacked in Starbeck

A 61-year-old man has been attacked outside the Prince of Wales pub in Starbeck last night (Thursday) and taken to Leeds General Infirmary with a serious head injury.

The man, who is still in hospital in a critical but stable condition, was attacked outside the pub on High Street just after 9pm.

A 31-year-old Harrogate man was arrested at 9.45pm and is currently in police custody following the attack.

Acting Det Insp Dave Horne, of Harrogate CID, said: “If you witnessed the assault or saw either of the men involved prior to the incident I need to speak to you as soon as possible and ask that you get in touch.”
