Disabled people from across the region will be heading to Harrogate next Wednesday (June 7) for an exhibition being staged by a leading local charity.
Disability Action Yorkshire’s Market Place Event, taking place between 2pm and 7pm in the town’s Cedar Court Hotel, will feature displays from over 20 organisations and businesses, showcasing their services and products for disabled people, with a particular focus on assistive technology.
The line-up features organisations such as Tunstall, Possum, Yorkshire Care Equipment, Change Mobility and Knaresborough-based GSPK Design, who will be displaying their ground-breaking “Emego”, which is currently being trialled by Barnsley Hospital’s assistive technology team who are also attending the event.
This year Disability Action Yorkshire celebrates its 80th anniversary, and next week’s exhibition is one of a series of events being held over the coming months to mark this significant milestone.
Disability Action Yorkshire Chief Executive Jackie Snape said: “We are absolutely delighted with the quality of businesses and organisations attending our maket place event.
“This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for disabled people to speak to industry experts, and to see the products and innovations that are improving the lives of disabled people and giving them more independence.
“One of the key areas we are currently exploring as a charity is assistive technology, and its superb that some key organisations from within this field will be with us on the day.
“Our market place event is bringing together businesses and numerous public and private sector organisations, whose united goal is to enable disabled people to live their day to day lives independently.”
