If cracking Crystal Maze-style puzzles to break out of locked rooms sounds like your cup of tea then you are in luck as plans have been submitted for the district’s first live escape room.

A branch of Clue HQ, the Live Escape Game, could open on Prospect Crescent if approval is given by Harrogate Borough Council planners for a change of use, from a gym to leisure facility.

Steve West, Franchise Owner, has travelled across the country to use escape rooms and now aims to bring the challenge to Harrogate.
He said: “I think the most interesting thing is that there is nothing like this in Harrogate. It has been a huge national phenomenon across the country and I am so excited to bring it here.
“Without spoiling anything it is a bit like Crystal Maze. Guests will come in to the rooms with certain themes and be given tasks they have to complete within 60 minutes. They get ‘locked in’ but are able to come out if there is an emergency, they have to solve a puzzle to complete the task and escape the room.”

Although wanting to keep details of the rooms a surprise until opening of the branch, Mr West has said there will be an Egyptian and CSI themed rooms, along with a prison escape game. Doors to the escape rooms could be open by July if plans are approved.
