Hilary Haresign bought the business for £250 in 2000 and has spent the last 18 years building it into a highly respected retail destination, with an emphasis on customer service.
The business, which incorporates the Wild Plum Café, now employs 30 people, most of them on the shop floor.
Hilary has plans to grow the business further over the coming years, and has recently been granted planning permission to extend her premises on Hookstone Road.
“We’re constantly investing in the business. You can’t afford to stand still these days,” she says.
That attitude has stood the business in good stead, and Snooty Frox won the first ever Customer Service Award at this year’s Harrogate Advertiser Series Business Awards.
“Your business is only as good as the people you employ, and all my employees are fully trained and give customers a one-to-one service, which you don’t usually get nowadays,” says Hilary.
“The best thing about them is that they are all passionate about what they’re selling, and they work as a team – they help each other – which is really important.
“A lot of my team have been working for me for years – we’ve been established now for 18 years, so we must be doing something right.
“We’re like a big family, and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
