A project management and building surveying practice with more than 25 years’ experience is expanding with the opening of a new office in Harrogate and the appointment of a sales director.

Skipton-based Linchpin Ltd has welcomed Sarah Laycock to its team as it predicts increased activity in commercial property and housebuilding.

The company has managed a range of construction projects including multi-million pound mixed-used developments, refurbishment of historic mills, building of new industrial units and offices, and the redevelopment of strategic business parks.

Clients include blue chip investment funds, PLCs, local authorities, joint venture partnerships, major property companies and private individuals.

Managing director Ian Summersgill said: “Harrogate is at the heart of the ‘development diamond’.

“This area is made up of four sides - Harrogate, Leeds, York and Wetherby - that have suffered less than other parts of the UK with the economic downturn and they are resilient and provide a long-lasting investment proposition.”

He said owners of commercial property portfolios were becoming more active and house builders were now able to unlock their land bank assets as councils are compelled to free up greenfield land for housing.

He added: “We anticipate the two sectors will see increased activity, and providers of total turnkey outsourced services will be in demand as a cost-effective means of bringing projects back to life.”
