Ripon racecourse is celebrating its very own winning streak after clinching a prestigious trophy for the fourth time.
The Racegoer’s Club has voted the course “Best Small Racecourse in the North”.
The site – known as Britain’s Garden Racecourse and winner of a gold award in this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom competition – already took the prize in 1996, 2003 and 2009.
Staff are delighted with their win. James Hutchinson, Clerk of the Course and Managing Director said:
“This is a great accolade for all the staff at Ripon and pays great reward for the fantastic work they’ve all put in this season. I couldn’t be happier.”
This year’s award follows substantial maintenance and refurbishment work including work on the sewerage system and a complete refurbishment of the paddock toilets.
Annual membership badges are now available offering access to the Club Enclosure as well as the Members Bar with viewing balcony for all 16 racedays in the 2012 season, plus free admission to more than 20 exchange dates at other racecourses throughout the country and some Yorkshire County Cricket fixtures.
