Bottoms up for North Yorkshire's male calendar!

The curtains weren't exactly twitching in Bishop Monkton when the photographs were being taken in the village for an all-male semi-nude charity calendar.

But the organisers from the Lamb and Flag had the last laugh. For their Calendar Boys calendar has now raised almost £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The bare-bottomed venture was the brainchild of Hannah Duffield, whose dad ended up being one of the models.

Hannah said: “I was talking to my dad in the village pub while we were at an auction and we had a silly idea to do a nude calendar with all the men from the village.

“I ended up getting asking customers to be my models which they all agreed to!

“The next day when they realised I was actually being serious they were all a bit in shock as if what an earth have I agreed to.

“When I explained that it was to raise money for charity following a death of a family friend they were all up for it.”

There was a serious reason behind Hannah’s cheeky idea, however.

A nurse at Harrogate District Hospital, she saw it as a way of raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of family friend Robin Peters who sadly died from the disease in the autumn.

it was by no means certain whether enough men in the village would want to reveal all (or almost all) to get the idea off the ground,

But, thankfully, more than a dozen quickly volunteered to take part. Many had been affected by cancer issues and some had beaten the disease themselves.

The photoshoot itself was undertaken by Nigel Baldwin and his wife and involved 14 men aged 40 to 78 in various states of undress at familiar landmarks around Bishop Monkton such as the Lamb & Flag, the Masons Arms, the village cockadoodle, the bridge over the beck and the cricket ground.

The models who took part in the project were: Martin Searle, David Way, Trevor Pawson, Oliver Coughlin, Mike Kent, David Venables, Gerald Shervington, Richard Flockton, Peter (Bomber) Duffield, Tommy Hartley, Richard Taylor, Dave Whincup, Neil Armstrong plus one other.
