Boost to size of Christmas gift and food fair in Ripon

Organisers of this year’s Cathedral Christmas Gift and Food Fair say that Saturday’s event will be bigger than ever.

They said that 110 stalls will be on show inside the Cathedral and also at The Old Deanery Hotel on Minster Road.

Margaret Hammond, Campaign Manager at the Cathedral said: “We are delighted that we have received so much support from local and regional businesses this year.

“And we are looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors to experience a wonderful seasonal atmosphere in the fabulous surroundings of Ripon Cathedral.”

The ever popular Christmas Gift and Food Fair brings crowds of visitors to Ripon from all over Yorkshire to enjoy shopping, food and live musical entertainment.

Margaret added: “Santa’s grotto, face painting and children’s activities will keep the children amused.”

Members of the Mother’s Union and many volunteers from the local community are supporting the Christmas cake stall by baking home-made cakes to sell.

And soldiers from the 21 Engineer Regiment at Claro Barracks have volunteered to help set-up of the fair.

As well as the usual favourites organisers said there will be 15 new stalls inside the Cathedral which range from floral festive decorations to accessories for men and children’s toys. New food stalls include wine, meat, handmade chocolates and liquers from the Orchards of Husthwaite.
