Women Institute: Bishop Thornton and Shaw Mills Women Institute November meeting was their AGM held St Joseph’s School Bishop Thornton. Sadly the visitor Margaret Hardcastle who was the delegate for the National AGM and was to give an account if her visit, did not attend as there had been some confusion with dates. The nominations for president, secretary and treasurer were to re instate the present officials. Mrs Stubbs displayed the three trophies that the institute have been awarded at Ripley Show this year as some members were not in attendance at the show. Programme ideas for 2013 were suggested and choices made, giving a variety of different events. One member has offered to represent the women institute as the delegate at the National AGM IN Cardiff this year. Some members are to visit Chatsworth House this month in connection with other groups. Also to Masham to watch a production from the History about Ladies of a Certain Age, a visit to Lakeland Shop in Harrogate and also the Nidd Valley Group Quiz at Birstwith. It was a busy evening with plenty of matters to discuss and members were able to sample bonfire food that was the contribution for the competition for the evening. For the December meeting members will be joining their sister institute at Follifoot for their Christmas Party as well as the Group Carol Services at Hampsthwaite .If you are interested in joining a light hearted group please contact Liz on 01765 620003.
