Jazz: is there anybody in the parish of Bishop Thornton interested in having a regular jazz jamming session, ? Or maybe interested in playing jazz whether it’s your first time or you are an old hand? Dates have not been set for these sessions but it will be most likely to be a Thursday evening meeting near Patley Bridge. Cricket: Bishop Thornton 1st team play on July 20 at home to Hampsthwaite, and the 2nd team are away to Darley. The Wath Cup Final at Birstwith is on July 21 at 6.15pm. Amateur Evening League July 24 home to Birstwith A.

School News: at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School the infants, as part of their geography topic, will be making a recycling centre in the role play area. They have been bringing in clean recyclable materials such as cereal boxes, plastic bottle, and newspapers etc and sorting the materials into groups.

Ordination: Linda Boon from Shaw Mills never stoped smiling at her Ordination as a Priest by the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds in St John’s Sharow. It was great to see so many friends from the all the local churches in the parish and surrounding area welcoming her as a priest and sharing in the celebrations. Afterwards there was time to chat to people who worship together from all the churches around Bishop Thornton, Burnt Yates, Markington and South Stainley.
