School News: Bishop Thornton CE Primary School welcomed five new children in to school in September, they have settled in school really well and are enjoying learning, and making friends.

Welcome Mass: almost £100 for the Macmillan Cancer Support as part of World Biggest Coffee Morning was raised, a wonderful effort and support from those who stayed behind after the Mass for the new starters at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. If you could not make it to the coffee morning and would still like to donate £5 to Macmillan, you can text CAKE 487E TO 70550.

Ripley Wood: the infants from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School had excellent afternoon exploring Ripley Woods, using senses to find out as mush as possible about the environment around them. Everyone had a great time there!

Staring School: if you are thinking about a local school for your chid who was born between September 1 2008 and August 31 2009, please note that they are due to start school September 20013. Warsill Social Event: Thursday, October 18 the Garden Club will hear a talk by John Smiles winner of the Master Gardener award at Autumn Flower Show 2011 on The High and Lows of General Gardening at 7.30pm in Warsill Parish Hall members £2 Guests £4.

Golf: do you enjoy a round of golf with a meal a three course meal to follow? Why not join Bishop Thornton Cricket Club at their annual golf day at Ripon City Golf Club on October 19 as an individual or a team. Cost is £40 per person to include coffee/tea and a bacon sandwich on arrival, a round of golf followed by the three course meal, please contact for more details from
