Bishop Thornton CE Primary School: welcomed five new children in to school in September, they have settle in really well and are enjoying learning. Children from Years 2 - 6 will continue their swimming until October. They also took part in a swimming gala held at Ripon Spa Baths at the end of September. The school are collecting Let’s Grow vouchers from Morrisons, also Nestle box top vouchers which will be exchanged for books, seeds and tools to enable the children to keep the planters full of flowers and herbs. Just drop them into school where they will be most welcome.

School open day: for children starting next September at Bishop Thornton Primary School on Thursday, October 25 between 9.30-11.30am or 1.15-3pm. The school would love to show you around and for you to see the children work and play. Please speak to any member of staff on 01423 770185 to make an appointment.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School: is also collecting Let’s Grow vouchers, Nestle box tops, Sainsbury’s and Tesco vouchers too.

Warsill Social Event: on Thursday, October 18 the garden club will hear a talk by John Smiles winner of the Master Gardener award at the Autumn Flower Show 2011 - The High and Lows of 2011. General gardening at 7.30pm in Warsill Parish Hall members £2, guests £4.

Golf: do you enjoy a round of golf with a three course meal to follow? Why not join Bishop Thornton Cricket Club at their annual golf day at Ripon City Golf Club on October 19 as an individual or a team. Cost is £40 per person to include coffee/tea and a bacon sandwich on arrival, round of golf followed by the three course meal. Please contact for more details.
