George Ross’ men once again struggled with the bat, as not for the first time in 2018, several players made starts but were unable to go on and convert them into big scores.

Things began well enough for the Roosters who managed to put 55 runs on the board without loss after skipper Ross won the toss and elected to bat.

Opener Jack Potticary was however then stumped on 31, with Ross (15) and Josh Atkinson (2) departing soon afterwards as three wickets tumbled for just seven runs.

Eddie Wilson (24) and Will Bates (23) managed a 51-run stand for the fourth wicket, but both men were sent on their way when looking well set, and only a knock of 24 by Harry Stow lower down the order saw ‘Gate past the 150-mark, eventually finishing all out on 161.

Grange completed their run-chase with ease in the end, reaching 162/3 in the 36th over, despite the efforts of Ross who spun his way to figures of 3-35.
