Pub makes its mark on local community: the Square and Compass pub in North Rigton reopened on Friday, September 14 under the management of Malvern Inns. After two successful opening events and a busy first few weeks the pub is establishing itself as a key part of the community and the wider area. It even saw an injection of youth last week when the staff and pupils of North Rigton Cof E Primary School had to seek refuge from the Yorkshire weather as their fire alarm refused to switch off! Landlord Paul Stephenson said “we were happy to welcome the staff and children, who enjoyed their visit to the pub especially after they found the stash of smarties”. A week after opening, a sunny autumn Saturday sees the pub a hive of activity. A wedding party on their way to church enjoy the sunshine and a drink, couples and families are inside tucking into lunch and a couple of dogs and their owners laze in the sunshine on the terrace. The service is professional and friendly and the décor is fresh and welcoming with a modern feel. The reopening of the Square and Compass has been a long time coming and it does not disappoint.
