A dental practice on Ripon Road has undergone some changes with two new owners.

Richard Bannister and Henry Donaldson took over as principal dentists of Swan Dental Practive in November, following on from Constantia (Dina) Norman and Mr Mellor and Dobson before.

“We are proud to be taking over the reins of a practice that has been serving the people of Harrogate for over 80 years,” said Mr Bannister.

“Luckily we have inherited a great team and some lovely patients. We have already redecorated the hall and patient lounge, and will be creating a new, quiet consulting area as well as redesigning the surgeries.

“Our open evening in December was a great success and we have since welcomed many former patients back to the practice. It seems no-one can resist a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie!”

Mr Bannister and Mr Donaldson both qualified from Sheffield Dental School in 2001 with BDS and have worked in places as far afield as Scotland, Devon and New Zealand.

Both have young families and love the outdoor life. On September 23 Mr Donaldson will be swimming, cycling and running his way around London as he attempts to emulate Yorkshire’s Olympic triathletes the Brownlee brothers by taking part in the Virgin Active London Triathlon in aid of two local charities - Young Carer’s Resource and Saint Michael’s Hospice. The event involves a 1,500m swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run - the same distances as the Olympics.
