Absolutely snow chance!

Heavy snowfall across the country has decimated Saturday's fixture list, with the region's sportsmen and women set for a weekend of inactivity.

Harrogate RUFC made the decision to call off their National Three North clash with struggling Pocklington as early as Thursday afternoon with the Stratstone Stadium pitch completely covered in a thick layer of the white stuff.

The fixture has been re-scheduled for March 17, but with the Aces unbeaten in 2018 and having won their last six games as they bid for promotion, the timing of the postponement is far from ideal.

Harrogate Town are another team whose momentum has been checked by the ‘Beast from the East’.

Currently top of National League North on goal-difference from Salford City, Simon Weaver’s men were due to travel to Lincolnshire to tackle 13th-placed Boston United on the back of a five-match winning run, but their game has also fallen foul of the weather.

Town return to action when they entertain FC United of Manchester on March 10.

In-form Evo-Stik Division One North play-off hopefuls Tadcaster Albion’s charge up the table has been temporarily halted with the playing surface at Ossett Town’s Ingfield unplayable.

Knaresborough Town, the NCEL Division One leaders, and Harrogate Railway, fighting for their lives in the tier above, will also be out of action.

Boro were due to host Rossington Main at Manse Lane, while the Starbeck club were on the road at Handsworth Parramore.

Town will now take on Rossington on March 20 and the Rail will head to Handsworth on April 10.

All fixtures at Harrogate Hockey Club’s Ainsty Road base have been postponed too, however the scheduled race night will still take place from 7pm.
