Luxury care in the prestigious Duchy Estate: Hampden House launches new memory suite
A purpose-built nursing home on the Duchy Estate in Harrogate is about to unveil the newest wing – its Blenheim Memory Suite.
The innovative centre within the already renowned nursing home, creates a community within a community, where those with memory problems will be nurtured and cared for. Meticulous attention to detail and highly trained and compassionate staff means this is a loving environment for people of any ages who may be suffering memory loss.
Laura Newall, the manager of the 66-bed Hampden House, said: “Caring at Hampden House is more than a duty; it’s our ethos. We’re dedicated to fostering a compassionate, nurturing environment where every resident’s well-being is our top priority.”
About Hampden House
Quality of life is every bit as important as quality of care. The staff are all highly skilled and come from multiple disciplines, meaning every care need is met, and every resident is treated as an individual.
Laura added: “We believe that residents should be given the freedom to choose how they live their lives wherever possible. We involve residents, and were appropriate their families, in the development of individual care plans, tailored to the needs of each particular resident.”
Whether a resident is staying for a brief respite break, there for end of life care, or needing personal and nursing care, the welcome, and the friendly, person-centred approach, remains the same.
As a result, residents feel safe, secure, valued and happy.
High staffing levels means there’s always time for life’s little extras – a walk around the grounds with a staff member, or a chat over a cup of tea, residents are treated with dignity and given the gift of time.
Blenheim Memory Suite
Built within the existing premises, the brand new memory site is “a beacon of care and support for individuals living with memory conditions”, says Laura.
There’s a specially tailored environment to care for the unique needs of those with memory loss. All staff within the unit are specially trained to offer support with ongoing daily needs, and a compassionate approach. Balanced alongside the care and medical side, is the programme of cognitive stimulation and therapies which helps maintain function and slow progression of memory loss. Social interaction is a key focus … fun events include cocktail and sherry afternoons, outings to places of interest, weekly entertainment including a pianist, violinist, poetry reading and singers, quizzes and bingo and lots more.
