Ashville College, the independent co-ed in Harrogate, has much to offer for Early Years and Prep – open morning
The Prep School – part of the only co-educational independent school in Harrogate for ages 2-18 – will be opening its doors on Wednesday February 7 from 9.30am to noon. Click here to book a space.
Parents will meet the recently appointed Prep School Head, Phil Soutar, and will be given a tour of the classrooms and facilities by Year 6 pupils. Mr Soutar said: “We are looking forward to welcoming parents and prospective pupils so they can see all the great work going on. We have chosen to have an open morning on a normal school day to showcase how great and vibrant this learning environment really is on a day to day basis.”
The Prep School prides itself on a balanced curriculum which is taken outdoors every week, for every year group, whatever the weather. Mr Soutar said: “We put great store in teaching for character which means learning about problem solving, team-working and leadership – either from the front or following.
“And that is not all; the wider curriculum goes outside with our pupils – from English to Geography, Maths to Science, everything can be applied in a practical, natural world environment.”
As well as a specialist Outdoor Learning teacher, there are also specialist teachers for music, drama, sport and modern foreign languages, taking advantage of the impressive facilities on offer.
These experts also help with the 45 different Co-Curricular clubs on offer each week from Sport to Drama, Coding to Music.
Pupils in the Prep school also have guaranteed entry into the competitive year 7 cohort in the Senior School part of the college.
Mr Soutar added: “Excellence is a thread running through everything we do in the Prep School – there is no point in doing anything in life half-heartedly. With that in mind we cannot wait to welcome people on February 7.”
In Acorns Early Years (ages 2 to 5), an experienced team is dedicated to building relationships and a genuine connection with each child and their family.
An interactive curriculum, incorporating tailored excellence in Maths and English as well as purposeful and engaging activities, builds the foundations for pupils to become confident communicators.
A safe, secure and nurturing learning environment delivers an ambitious educational programme, with a wide variety of fun and engaging learning opportunities.
Head of Acorns Early Years, Mrs Charlotte Cryer, will also be on hand to meet parents at the open morning. She said: “Children are at the heart of everything that we do and every decision that we make. We look forward to meeting prospective new pupils and their parents.”
