WIN: WWE NXT wrestling tickets at Sheffield Arena

WHAT’S a nice girl like Bayley doing in a rough and tough business like World Wrestling Entertainment?

The pretty and athletic 26-year-old - real name Pamela Rose Martinez - laughs as she explains that wrestling is her life and as new WWE NXT women’s champion she hopes to inspire more girls to grapple in the ring.

NXT, coming to Sheffield Arena on December 12, is WWE’s nursery brand, producing the next wrestling legends to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Bayley’s own inspirations including The Rock, Macho Man Randy Savage and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

But this male dominated business, which over the years has had its female wrestling superstars including Trish Stratus, Lita, Torrie Wison and Stephanie McMahon, is entering a new golden era. The girls are here in force.

Leading the female charge are WWE Divas champ Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Paige and Emma, along with NXT’s Carmela, Alexa Bliss and not least of all Bayley, who dreams of main eventing its biggest event Wrestlamania.

AUDIO: Listen to our full 10 minute chat with Bayley who also answers your #StarAskBayley Twitter questions she said: “I love NXT but the main roster is everybody’s goal and I hope in the next year I can be up there, working in that division and building it even stronger.

“Hopefully women could be main eventing Wrestlemania and Summerslam.”

Bayley, who is already getting the superstar treatment - her own Mattel toy action figure is in the making - added: “Now is a great time for girls to get into wrestling and WWE - that used to be me. I was about 13 or 14 when I made the decision watching Molly Holly, Victoria and Ivory

“I want to inspire people. I know it sounds cheesy, but dreams do come true. I am literally just a normal girl who grew up in San Jose, California. I just kept fighting and working for it. Now It’s happening. Anything is possible if it’s something you feel in your heart.”

She warned young fans not to try wrestling moves at home, but to leave it to the train ed professionals. And she urged fans who have only ever seen WWE on TV to buy a ticket to see her and others on the historic first NXT Takeover Tour.

“WWE is an experience you can’t compare to anything. The atmosphere is an amazing feeling and you feed off everyone else’s energy. You can go to soccer games and other events but nothing compares to the sport entertainment of WWE. It’s just a great time.”
