Unusual Valentine's Day invitation for Harrogate couples
Harrogate couples looking to celebrate this Valentine's Day in style are invited to join Britain's most romantic train.
The luxurious Northern Belle, one part of the iconic Orient Express group, will become The Love Train for Valentine’s Day next month - and it is set to pull into Harrogate station that very morning.
When the same train ran last year, Nearly 20 couples ended up engaged after “popping the question” on board!
The firm's managing director Jeanette Snape is hoping for even more proposals this year.
She said: “It’s the ideal opportunity to get your love on the right track. You cannot put a price on love.”
The 200 passengers will be welcomed on board by liveried stewards over a red carpet on the station platform.
They they will sip champagne before tucking into a slap-up seven-course lunch with wine during a leisurely five-hour journey through the lovely Yorkshire countryside.
The seven exquisitely restored Pullman-styled carriages hauled by a heritage locomotive will set out from York at 11.20am on Thursday February 13.
The train will call at Harrogate at 12.25 before picking up more passengers in Leeds at 1.15pm.
It is due to arrive back in Harrogate at 5.25.
Passengers are expected to dress up for the occasion – jeans and trainers are certainly frowned upon.
At £265, the fare is certainly not cheap – although that does include the meal and wine.
