Winner of last year’s hit ITV show, Ben Haenow, was the star attraction and raised the roof with his number one single Something I Need.

But popular runner-up, Fleur East, got the crowd on their feet dancing with upbeat numbers All About That Base, Bang Bang and Uptown Funk.

Italian crowd favourite Andrea Faustini’s versions of Beyonce’s Listen and Michael Jackson’s Earth Song slowed the tempo down but attracted deafening applause.

The annual X Factor Live Tour, the 11th since pop supremo Cowell brought his talent show to our TV screens, showcased the final eight contestants in the competition - who battled their way to the live shows from tens of thousands of wannabe popstars.

They sang classic songs and viewers’ favourites from the TV series, including Let It Go, performed by Lauren Platt, novelty act Stevi Ritchie’s version of Livin’ la Vida Loca and a Beatles mash-up by boyband Stereo Kicks.

The finalists rounded off the night with a cover of Take That’s Never Forget.
