Cancelled: Major motorhome and campervan event set to be held at Harrogate's Great Yorkshire Showground

A major motorhome and campervan show set to be held in Harrogate has been cancelled due to the continuing coronavirus crisis.

The Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers Association (HERCMA) event had been scheduled to take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in six months time, in September.

HERCMA chairman Nigel Smailes said: "In light of the current circumstances, we feel we have no choice but to cancel this year’s event. The industry will need time to heal after the pandemic and we hope at this difficult time that everyone stays safe and well.

"We will announce dates for next year’s events in due course and look forward to seeing everyone there.”

The annual event usually sees major manufacturers in the industry launch their new products.

The Great Yorkshire Show - scheduled to be held in July - has also been cancelled.

Show CEO Nigel Pulling previously said that due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the "sad but sensible" decision had been taken to cancel the show this year.

The show is one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar, bringing more than 130,000 visitors to Harrogate.
