Second-to-none among them is Leeds-based Harrison Spinks, a fifth-generation family business which has been a byword for quality since 1840.

The company is so committed to sourcing the very best materials for its mattresses that it has its own farm, Hornington Manor, near Tadcaster, where a flock of 600 sheep and 150 acres planted with flax and hemp provide a substantial proportion of their contents.
