200-year-old water mill near Harrogate transformed into 5-bedroom home - yours for £1.6m

Timber beams mix with modern fittings in a “handsome” 200-year-old water mill near Harrogate converted into a five-bedroom home.

And the Old Mill, on Rowden Lane, Hampsthwaite is now on the market.

Estate agent Strutt & Parker, which is marketing the property, says: “The Old Mill is a handsome, Grade II-listed former water mill, dating from the early 19th Century.

The mill was constructed over Cockhill Beck, although the wheel was removed when the building was converted to steam power, long before it was converted into a home.

Strutt & Parker says: “The property features five bedrooms and is arranged over three floors with timber beams overhead and stylish, modern fittings.”

Highlights include a reception room and sitting room, both with wood-burning stoves, and a “splendid” 42-feet open-plan kitchen/dining area/family room.

The first floor has a family bathroom and three double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, while a separate first-floor area, accessed via the family room, has a study/playroom.

The master bedroom, another double bedroom and a further bathroom can be found on the second floor.

Outside is a electric-gated driveway, double garage and garden with large paved terracing area.
