Hallowe’en Guide 2015: Ghoulish goings-on in Harrogate & district

What are you doing for Hallowe’en? There’s certainly lots of choice in Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge - the whole district, in fact.

Pateley Bridge

Scarefest IV is taking place all day at Harefield Hall on Saturday in Pateley Bridge with ghoulish fancy dress, live music from the likes of popular covers band MFOR and a hog roast.

Knaresborough

Knaresborough hosts its annual Fright Fest all-day music event on Saturday at Henshaws Arts & Crafts Cafe the same day with a whole host of local rock and acoustic acts.

Harrogate

Harrogate has a Spooktacular music concert at Monteys Rock Café on Saturday starring The MG Band.

Nearer at hand in Harrogate tonight, Thursday sees DJ Trev host a Ghosts and Grooves vinyl records night at Ten Devonshire Place bar.

Harrogate’s Pinewoods Conservation Group is presenting its first-ever free Hallowe’en event in the bat-infested Pinewoods on Saturday from 5pm to 6pm starting from Car Park 2 at RHS Harlow Carr.

Included is a spooky walk , a fancy dress competition, apple bobbing and a story telling witch. A £1 donation from non-members is requested.

Ripon and Wetherby

Ripon’s Lightwater Valley is being transformd into ‘Frightwater Valley’ up to and including Sunday while Stockeld Park near Wetherby has a Hallowe’en Adventure.

Knaresborough

The Knaresborough Castle area will see a ‘Scary Circus’ on Saturday with children’s-themed activities running from 3pm to 5.30pmy.

There will be tricks and treats followed by entertainment with circus skills, dancers, haunted castle, light and sound and a zombie quest for adults and teenagers over 14.

Tickets are available from Pear Music shop on the High Street or at the event on the day itself.

Another Knaresborough location going the whole hog during half-term is Mother Shipton’s Cave park.

It’s promising a scary feast of events each day from 10am to 4pm with witches, warlocks, sooth sayers and trolls.

The fun activities there include a Halloween trail for the children to follow, a pumpkin carving demonstration with local artist Christopher Kelly and a lot more.
