New shop in Harrogate opens today in town centre thanks to award-winning independent

Bakeri Baltzersen is the latest step forward by the award-winning cafe that started a coffee house revolution in the town eight years ago.

Located at 2 Garrick Buildings on Oxford Street next to Harrogate Theatre just along from Baltzersen’s main cafe, the bakery shop will be open from 8am to 3pm from today, Friday, October 2.

Acting as an outlet for Baltzersen’s new bakery which was launched earlier this year, Bakeri Baltzersen is the result of a long-held ambition for this go-ahead indie by owner Paul Rawlinson who prides himself on offering the best Yorkshire sourced ingredients prepared with Scandinavian inspiration .

Baltzersen’s said: "When we launched Bakeri Baltzersen there was always the intention to have a physical retail bakery in town - somewhere you could pop in for a loaf of bread, pastries, takeaway coffee, sandwiches, salads, and more.

"After a lot of work behind the scenes we're finally ready to open our doors, with new manager Ben heading up the bakery shop team.

"We're really proud of be opening a new premises and can't wait to see everyone in the new spot."

Prior to the construction of its own dedicated bakery in Kettlesing which offers a wholesale supply to businesses within a 10 mile radius of Harrogate, Baltzersen’s baked all its pastries and bespoke cakes at it original Oxford Street site.

The new Bakeri Baltzersen will enable this Harrogate business to offer a new range of breads, viennoiserie, pastries and bespoke cakes, though some may not quite be on the menu yet.

Baltzersen’s said: "None of this would be possible without our amazing Baltz team and the huge amount of support we've received from you all over the last eight years, especially since lockdown began for Covid.

"We won't have everything on the menu straightaway as we're still waiting to finish a couple of bits in the kitchen, but everyone is welcome to pop in for fresh bread and pastries, takeaway coffee, and lunch to go we'd love to see you."
