Harrogate firm's new idea for National Tea Day

A top Harrogate brand is celebrating today's National Tea Day in style despite the coronavirus lockdown.

Harrogate-based, ultra-premium Gin brand Slingsby are offering stay at home tea lovers the chance to enjoy a quality tea infused cocktail at home.

Recent national surveys show the British have been drinking more tea since lockdown - around two cups of tea more on average daily.

The most tea-loving cities, it seems, are Edinburgh, Leeds, Cardiff and Birmingham.

Slingsby, which has enjoyed multiple success in the last 12 months including at the World Gin Awards, Bartender’s Brand has devised a selection of recipes across their flavour portfolio which use classic and fruity teas.

Slingsby tea classics

1. Mo-tea-to.

Ingredients.

50ml Slingsby London Dry Gin

50ml Green Tea

6 Mint or Basil Leaves

50ml Apple Juice

Build all ingredients in a tall glass over crushed ice. Top with cloudy lemonade and garnish with a lemon wheel and a basil or mint sprig.

2.Yorkshire Iced Tea.

Ingredients.

50ml Slingsby London Dry Gin

50ml Yorkshire Tea

25ml Elderflower Cordial

Add hot water to Yorkshire teabag and allow to cool. Fill tall glass with ice, add all ingredients including the tea and stir thoroughly. Garnish with lemon wedge.

3. Rhubarb Iced Tea.

Ingredients.

30ml Slingsby Rhubarb Gin

50ml Raspberry Tea

Handful of Mint

Bar Spoon of Sugar

Add hot water to raspberry teabag and allow to cool. Fill tall glass with ice, add all ingredients including the tea and stir thoroughly. Garnish with orange zest.
