Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebration

Harrogate first entered Yorkshire in Bloom in 1975 and enjoyed great success, winning YIB 33 times and Britain in Bloom 12 times. It’s the only town to have ever won Europe in Bloom Twice.

To help celebrate the return of Yorkshire in Bloom after two years of disruption, Harrogate is embracing its floral heritage, with Harrogate BID supporting local firms and communities to mark it. The event runs from Friday July 15 to Friday, August 12.

They’ve worked with local partners and businesses to create the Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebration, a trail of unique floral stories through the town centre, including a Victorian bath, a teacup and a giant garden gnome. Explore the town’s opulent history and hear from influential figures from the gardening world during four weeks of colourful celebrations.

A spokesperson from Harrogate BID said: “The event will be aimed at locals and visitors and will support rediscovering the town, its local businesses while encouraging footfall. This event will be the first of its kind, and will focus on the collaboration of the town centre businesses and community to really make Harrogate look its best after two challenging years.”

What and where?

The interactive floral trail follows seven unique floral installations that will be situated around the town centre, each telling their own story of Harrogate’s heritage; expect a giant pair of stilettos representing Harrogate’s retail offering, and a giant Victorian Bath showcasing Harrogate’s history of being an elegant, royal spa town.
