Home hunters are reserving for autumn completion

Not everyone has the courage or confidence to buy a new home from plan but a housebuilder says there are huge advantages to be gained from cherry picking a preferred plot from the drawing board.

Home hunters in Yorkshire are reaping benefits at developments across much of the region, by snapping up their dream home 10 months ahead of completion.

While the new homes industry is still working within Covid-safe guidelines, lockdown continues to present the perfect opportunity for potential buyers to research their new home; from location and surrounding amenities to design and position on a particular development – at the touch of a button.

Developer Linden Homes, which has developments across the Harrogate area, has seen a rise in the number of ‘off plan’ sales across Yorkshire in recent months, with some buyers reserving properties now that are not due for completion until September and October 2021.

Marketing manager Megan Marshall said: “Buyer confidence has remained robust over the past 12 months, reflected in the success of our current business model.

“We have experienced evidence of this across our developments from buyers looking to move within a few weeks to those who are happy to reserve their chosen plot several months in advance.

“Linden Homes continues to operate appointment only visits or viewings – either virtually or safely in person – giving one to one time to potential purchasers requiring details about the development itself, individual plot or designs and the many incentives available to help curb the cost of moving.”

Reserving a brand-new home before the first bricks are laid not only gives the guarantee of securing a preferred design and its position, but can also save money at developments in their earliest of stages, advises the builder.

By beating the rush and reserving a new home from plan, savvy customers can reap numerous benefits including: Selecting a plot with a sought-after south facing garden; contemporary kitchens and bathrooms; choosing preferred taste tiles, units and worktops in some cases; having a blank canvas from which to plan a new home

Lower utility bills and reduced maintenance bills that new homes can offer; new materials used in the construction process also mean that new homes are more energy efficient than older ones.
