Taking place at Harrogate Rugby Club on Monday, November 25, Helen Shay and others will sleep outdoors from 8pm to 6am the following day.

Solicitor Helen Shay volunteered to take part in the CEO Sleepout UK event on behalf of Harrogate Homeless Project which provides emergency care and helps rough sleepers back into accommodation and to rebuild their lives.

The event has been organised by Bianca Robinson, the chief executive of CEO Sleepout UK, the charity which aises money to fight homelessness and poverty across the UK.

Money is raised by business executives being sponsored to sleep rough for a night.

Helen Shay said: "Homelessness is something that might happen to anyone, often triggered by a life-changing event like job loss or relationship breakdown.

"It never needs to be permanent, if there's a hand to help people get back up."

Other people taking part in the sleep-out include Bianca Robinson, Martin Corbett of FM Consultancy Services, Erika Wilson of Wilson Power Solutions, with David Doherty on hand to host.
