Urgent appeal as Harrogate A&E department struggles to cope
The announcement today (December 19) said that the emergency department has been inundated with patients, including medical emergencies and those with minor ailments.
The appeal has come just a week after the hospital warned that A&E attendances have increased over the Christmas period in a similar trend across the country.

Hide AdA spokesperson for Harrogate District Foundation Trust said: "We’re extremely busy in our Emergency Department right now with both medical emergencies and minor ailments.
"Please, please help us & consider other health options."
In an effort to relieve the pressure on staff and other resources, patients are being asked to consider if their health needs could be met elsewhere.
If patients are not having a medical emergency, they are asked to consider calling the NHS non-emergency line on 111, or to visit their local GP or pharmacist.
