The sight of an RAF Chinook helicopter landing on the Stray has been turning heads in Harrogate this afternoon.

It is understood that the helicopter delivered vital PPE supplies for staff at the new 500-bed Nightingale hospital which was officially opened at Harrogate Convention Centre on Tuesday afternoon by veteran fundraiser Captain Tom Moore.

The helicopter touched down just after 1pm, with many surprised Harrogate residents taking to Twitter to comment on its arrival.
