'Responsible' decision to postpone Harrogate event as UK's Coronavirus fears grow

Saint Michael's Hospice has taken the decision to cancel its Twilight Walk as a "precautionary measure" as the country faces health concerns.

Coronavirus update - Harrogate hospital statement and precautions by Harrogate Wetherspoons, Harrogate Borough Council, Harrogate Convention Centre and Royal Hall

The walk was due to take place in Knaresborough tomorrow, Saturday, but the charity has now announced that it will no longer take place this weekend and a new date will be set for the event in due course.

It has stressed that there is currently no restriction in the UK set by the Government or Public Health England to cancel such events, and no local causes for concern which have led to the decision, but that it feels it is the "responsible thing to do for supporters, volunteers, staff and partners".

There are currently 116 recorded cases in the UK, with one proving fatal so far. There are currently 100,242 confirmed cases globally.

Saint Michael's has said it will confirm a new date as soon as possible, with those not able to make it being offered a full refund.
