Number of coronavirus deaths at Harrogate District Hospital rises to 38

The latest figures released by NHS England show that two more patients who tested positive for coronavirus have sadly died at Harrogate District Hospital, bringing the total number of deaths up to 38.

However, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust has also shared more uplifting news this week, confirming that 58 of Harrogate District Hospital's inpatients have now recovered from coronavirus and been discharged, as of yesterday, April 23.

The national figures by the NHS revealed today that a further 587 people who tested positive have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals across England up to 17,373.

Patients were aged between 40 and 102 years old, and 34 of the 587 patients (aged between 50 and 102 years old), had no known underlying health condition.

In the North East and Yorkshire, a further 76 patients have died.
