A dinner and auction at the West Park Hotel has raised more than £2,500 for ARCH, a mediation service for individuals, families and businesses in the Harrogate district.

The event, attended by around 50 guests, featured 14 auction lots donated by local businesses. Barclays Bank match-funded the event.

ARCH is a conflict resolution service that helps people to resolve a wide range of disputes, from neighbourhood disagreements and intergenerational issues to workplace wrangles.

The money raised will be spent on supporting young people who come to the notice of the authorities to help them turn their lives around, diverting them from crime or anti-social behaviour.

The mediation service was formerly offered by Harrogate Borough Council but became a separate entity in the spring, forming a strategic partnership with My Possible Self Ltd to expand its range of services and becoming a registered charity.

ARCH Manager Tony Pardoe said: “The funds raised will enable us to work with young people in the district towards restoring and rebuilding family relationships and we are very grateful to all those who supported us, either by attending the event or by giving some superb auction lots.

“Particular thanks must go to the West Park Hotel, to Fran Hazlewood at Morphets who was a huge help with the auction, and to Barclays Bank for its financial support.”
