The Acorn Charity held its annual Golf Day at Pannal Golf Club in September, generously hosted lady and gentleman captains Susan Taylor and Sandy Callandar who have chosen to support Acorn in their year of captaincy. Ninety six golfers played with a record number of ladies joining the field.

This year’s added prize was a hole in one competition, generously sponsored by Jonathan Baker of Charles Stanley. Overall winners on the day were the Dementia Forward team of Mike Sleath, Philip Lees, Mark Rudolph and Neil Crawford. Beaten by just one point were Peter Jeavons’ team of John Hall, David Aitken, John Frearn and Peter himself with last year’s winners, Mrs Barr’s Boys coming third. Other prizes were: Longest drive: David Brayshaw, Ladies’ Longest Drive: Susan Taylor, Nearest the Pin: David Aitken and Ladies’ Nearest the Pin: Sheila Fraser.

Prizes were kindly donated by Byron and Brown, Pannal Golf Club and the Kippax family. The day raised £5,900.
