The protest will take place at the war memorial in Harrogate town centre tomorrow, Friday.

Inspired by the example of world famous teenage environmental campagner Greta Thunberg, Harrogate Global Climate Strike will not be the first such event in the town.

Previous 'strikes' have seen groups such as the Green Party and Zero Carbon Harrogate in attendance and, even, a climate change poetry reading by Harrogate writer Tim Ellis, a member of Poems, Prose and Pints literary group.

Tomorrow's event is open to all and people are asked to gather at the war memorial at 11am.

The protest is part of a growing 'green' trend in Harrogate which has seen a new Facebook page called Sustainably Harrogate set up by Harrogate resident and ZCH member Caroline Linford to share resource and information to Harrogate locals and businesses to proactively tackle the climate emergency.
