Harrogate music fans will be disappointed - but probably not surprised - to learn that the organisers of one of North Yorkshire's biggest-attended festivals have taken the decision to postpone this summer's event.

Independent and family-owned (and run) Deer Shed 11 has been postponed on safety grounds due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

Held each July since 2009 at Baldersby Park near Topcliffe and Masham with crowds of 10,000, this year's indie/alt music, arts, books and science festival was to have starred the likes of Stereolab, James, Baxter Drury, Kate Tempest, Tim Burgess, Rachel Parris, Marcus Brigstocke and more.

The new date for the re-scheduled 11th Deer Shed Festival will be next year when it will run from July 30 to August 1, 2021. It is being stressed that all tickets will remain valid.

A spokesperson said: "It is with sadness that we must now announce the postponement of Deer Shed Festival 11 on safety grounds, due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

"But let's remain positive. The new dates will be July 30th - August 1st 2021, and we are putting all of our efforts into ensuring that the re-scheduled event is everything that we'd hoped for and more.

"Incognito (our massive, site-wide, multi-player spy game) is really shaping up to be something special!

"All tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Whilst refunds can be requested by those that need them, by holding onto your ticket you will be supporting Deer Shed as an independent, family owned and run business at this difficult time."

Tickets for Deer Shed 11 remain on sale with a freeze on tier price increases over the summer.
