The hospital have announced that they have been forced to open additional beds to respond to the high demand for hospital care over the holidays.

A statement from the hospital read: “We are currently very busy at both Harrogate District Hospital and across our community based services and are working extremely hard to maintain high quality care for all of our patients.

“We have opened additional beds in response to the demand for Hospital care, but are doing our best to discharge as many patients as possible where clinically appropriate.

“Our Emergency Department is extremely busy and we would request that people use other services, such as NHS111, for health advice on less serious conditions and only visit A&E with serious injuries or illnesses.

“We would like to thank all of our staff for their dedication and commitment to delivering high quality care at this exceptionally busy time.”
