But Halfords did not feel it would be right to charge Nick for the bike given the critical work he is biking to and from almost every day and so offered to replace his stolen Assist electric bike with a new one.

The grateful doctor let the world know of his gratitude when he Tweeted:

A month ago I was devastated to come after my shift in ED only to find my bike missing. But the immense kindness from @MrNickKnowles and @Halfords_uk to get me a new bike so that I can travel once again to work is just overwhelming. Thank you Mr Nick Knowles and @Halfords_uk
