One more Covid death reported at Harrogate hospital as new figures released
Another coronavirus death has been recorded at Harrogate hospital.
NHS England figures show a patient died at the hospital on Sunday to bring its death toll since the pandemic began up to 128.
It is the fifth death to be announced in the same amount of days and comes as staff are facing peak pressure from a record number of virus patients.
The hospital last week reported that the number of Covid-19 patients in beds had risen to 57 – a figure which had broken its record three times during January.
The increase in patient numbers and deaths comes as Harroagte’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people now stands at 176. That figure has more than halved from the peak of infections in January and is below the national average of 278.
Across the UK, a further 393 people have died of coronavirus in hospitals today in the lowest Monday total since the start of the year.
Today’s figures mark the smallest hospital death toll since January 4 when 413 people died.
In total, some 3,835,783 people have now been diagnosed with coronavirus overall in the UK – while 106,564 have now died.
