As the Government has imposed new guidelines on social-distancing and avoiding mass gatherings, a number of events across the district have been cancelled - with Knaresborough Bed Race becoming the latest.

Coronavirus closes Harrogate schools until further notice

Knaresborough Lions, which organises the event, said: "We are very sorry to have to announce that the Knaresborough Bed Race 2020 has been cancelled because of the coronavirus.

"Teams and sponsors will be hearing from us in the next few days. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at Bed Race 2021."

The annual event, which was set to take place on Saturday, June 13, was due to see 90 teams decorating their own beds and racing through the streets of Knaresborough, as well as wading through the Nidd.
