The centre is urging anyone who lives on Kings Road to join in with the applause tonight at 8pm, by clapping in their gardens, balconies or doorways - saying thank you in a way that observes the social distancing measures.

The venue has also politely reminded residents not to congregate outside the centre itself.

A photo capturing a trial run of the light-up effect has been shared by the chief executive of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust Steve Russell, as well as a photograph of the Crowne Plaza hotel which is spelling out NHS in its windows in another remarkable and stunning tribute.

The building firm behind the new Nightingale hospital said they expect it to be opened by this coming weekend, but there has been no official confirmation from NHS England.
