Harrogate hotelier helps create video filled with celebrity message to say thank you to NHS Nightingale staff

A prominent Harrogate figure has helped to create a video thanking staff at the new NHS Nightingale hospital - alongside huge Yorkshire stars like Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker, TV chef James Martin and Olympic gold medallist Jonny Brownlee.

Here is an updated list of Harrogate businesses offering takeaway food and drink during lockdown

The stars are joined by TV presenter Steph McGovern, football pundit Chris Kamara, singer Gareth Gates, comedian Paul Chuckle and many other celebrities from Yorkshire and beyond to say thank you to doctors, nurses, healthcare and support staff who will be working under difficult conditions to look after coronavirus patients in the new hospital in Harrogate.

Harrogate hotelier Simon Cotton, was asked to help create the emotional video, as he is hosting many of the Nightingale team at the White Hart Hotel.

He said: "A friend of ours in the NHS challenged actor Neil Grainger and I to bring together messages of support for the amazing staff due to start work this weekend at the Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber, based in Harrogate.

"We were overwhelmed by the response and the video had to be edited three times before being shown to all the NHS staff who are being inducted this week as we couldn't keep up with the number we were getting in.

"The video has turned out to be both moving and motivating for the brilliant Nightingale team and upon public release has also got a fantastic repsonse too.

"Ultimately it was a team effort which reflects the point that 'we're all in this together' ....and we couldn't have made this without a lot of help from our friends. I was very proud however to be classed as part of #TeamNightingale by the senior team staying with us at the White Hart Hotel as they have said the hotel workers have definitely been part of the team."
