Covid death recorded at Harrogate hospital for first time in three weeks

A coronavirus patient has died in Harrogate for the first time in more than three weeks.

The patient died at Harrogate District Hospital yesterday, Wednesday, when 11 people were receiving emergency treatment for the disease, according to the latest data from NHS England.

The death brings the total at the hospital to 84.

A Covid-related death has not been recorded at the hospital since September 29.

It comes as Harrogate has the third highest weekly infection rate in North Yorkshire with 166 cases per 100,000 people - below the average rate for England which stands at 177.

The death reported today was one of 27 across Yorkshire.

The total number of coronavirus deaths in English hospitals now stands at 31,427.
