Group to help over 60s fill in Census

A charity is offering free online tutorials to older people who need help taking part in this year’s census.

Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is offering the virtual sessions to help people complete the once-in-a-decade survey, which every household in the country must submit by May 4.

The video event will be hosted on Tuesday March 30, by an expert from Census 2021 and includes a short tutorial on the census process and an explanation on how to use the census website to complete the survey question by question. Participants can choose to complete their forms immediately afterwards if they prefer.

WiSE Chief Operating Officer Mark Dobson, said: “This year the government is really pushing for people to complete their census forms online.

“We know this can be a daunting challenge for some older people though, while many more will need a hand understanding how to accurately answer the questions the census asks.”

Census 2021 officially takes place on Sunday March 21 but people have until May 4 to submit it. Over 60s can book their free place by email: [email protected].
