We are located in the rural village of Markington, serving families from the Ripon and Harrogate locality. We are a small school with a caring, family ethos based on Christian values.

Markington School has a proven track record, rated “outstanding” in both our 2013 Ofsted and 2015 church inspections.

We focus on personalising the learning for all children in school while having fun and aim for every child to reach their potential. Children are able to benefit from small classes and experienced teachers and support staff.

The school’s PTA “Friends of Markington School” is active and highly supportive, arranging fundraising and social events throughout the year.

We extend our children’s horizons with regular educational trips. Just a few already this year include visits to the National Media Museum, Gurdwara, Houses of Parliament, Harrogate Theatre, Toy Museum and Fountains Abbey.

We also hold workshops in school to supplement the curriculum including poetry, skipping, cooking, dance and birds of prey.

To support parents and families, there is a daily breakfast club, Early Birds. Busy Bees runs after school until 5.30pm offering childcare and activities to suit all ages. Both clubs are run by school staff on site.

We also have specialist teachers and coaches to deliver music lessons, including recorder and sports.
